General Mitchell ANG Base Billy Mitchell Field is South of the Milwaukee Airport, Wisconsin

The claim: Milwaukee, 111

What it really is: The actually name for this facility is the General Mitchell International Airport, and is a joint civilian and military airport.

The airport is run by the Milwaukee County Airport Department (a civilian agency) and it's only military presence there is the Wisconsin Air National Guard.

Carswell AFB, Texas

The claim: Fort Worth, 3,274

What it really is: The Naval Air Station Fort Worth Joint Reserve Base (formerly known as Carswell Air Force Base) is a military air field operated by the Navy Reserve.

While the base is operation by the Navy, it is also used by the Air Force, the Marines, and the Texas Air National Guard, and also employees civilian personnel as well.

The base itself is also surround by residential areas.

What it really is: The Kingsley Field Air National Guard Base is a former Air Force base that was transferred to the Oregon Air National Guard in 1978.

Griffiss AFB, New York

The claim: Rome, 3,896

What it really is: Griffiss Air Force Base closed in 1995 and is now the Griffiss Business and Technology Park. The only military presence that remains is the Rome Research Site of the Air Force Research Laboratory, and the New York Air National Guard.

Pease ANG, New Hampshire

The claim: Portsmouth, 229

What it really is: Pease Air National Guard base is a former Air Force base that was taken over by the New Hampshire Air National Guard in 1991 after Air Force closed the base. The base is also the site of a civilian airport and commercial center called the Pease International Tradeport.

Lincoln AFB, Nebraska

The claim: Lincoln, ?

What it really is: The Lincoln Air Force base became the Lincoln Air National Guard Base in 1971, and is also a joint civilian airport with the Lincoln Airport.

Schilling AFB, Kansas

The claim: Salina, ?

What it really is: Schilling Air Force Base was closed 1965 with the only military presence left being the Kansas Air National Guard whom still uses the bombing range and some of the buildings.

The former base is now a quiet place that houses a few private businesses, as well as Kansas State University at Salina and Salina Area Technical College

NAS Cecil Field, Florida

The claim: Jacksonville, 21,000

What it really is: Navel Air Station Cecil Field was closed in 1999 and is now the Cecil Commerce Center and Cecil Airport.

The only military presence left there is the Florida National Guard.

Aurora AFB (formerly Buckley ANGB), Colorado

The claim: Aurora, 3,832

What it really is: The base is actually called Buckley Air Force Base, and is an Air Force Space Command base that serves more than 92,000 active duty, National Guard, Reserve and retired personnel throughout the Front Range community.

Since 2000 the base has been going through a large amount of new construction and modernization, including new enlisted airmen's dormitories, a commissary, a base exchange, a fitness center, and family housing units.

NAS Moffett Field, California

The claim: Mountain View, 13

What it really is: Moffett Federal Airfield (which is it's actually name) is a joint civil/military airfield and is owned and operated by the NASA Ames Research Center. The only military presence left at the airfield is the California Air National Guard and the U.S. Army Reserve.

March ARB, Califonia

The claim: Riverside, 6,486

What it really is: March Air Reserve Base is an Air Force Reserve base (I.E. not the main Air Force), but also contains units from the Army, Navy, and Marine Reserves as wall as the California Air National Guard.

There is also an air show there that is held every two years in March, and there have been several proposals in recent years to make the base a joint military/civilian airport.

What it really is: Camp Roberts is a California Army National Guard post that underwent major renovations in 2012, including the demolition of multiple World War Two era barracks that were basically health hazards.

Ft. Polk, Louisiana

The claim: This is a main base for UN troops & personnel, and a training center for the disarmament of America.

What it really is: Fort Polk is an army and National Guard training base. The land on which Fort Polk is on also has multiple historical and archaeological sites located on it as well, information of which can be found here.

Blythville AFB, Arkansas

The claim: Closed airbase now being used as camp. New wooden barracks have been constructed at this location. Classic decorations - guard towers, barbed wire, high fences.

What it really is: Eaker Air Force Base (which is it's actual name) was closed in 1992, and is now the Arkansas International Airport. The only military presence there is the Arkansas National Guard that uses the airport for helicopter training.

Ft. Chaffee, Arkansas

The claim: (near Fort Smith, Arkansas) - Has new runway for aircraft, new camp facility with cap of 40,000 prisoners

What it really is: Fort Chaffee is a National Guard base for the state of Arkansas.

The base has also been used to house refugees. In 2005 it was used to house 10,000 people affected by Hurricane Katrina. Any one of those people could have seen a prison camp there, if it was there, and yet none have.

Jefferson Proving Grounds, Indiana

The claim: Southern Indiana - This facility was an active base with test firing occuring daily. Portions of the base have been opened to create an industrial park, but other areas are still highly restricted. A camp is believed to be located "downrange". Facility is equipped with an airfield and has a nearby rail line.

What it really is: The base was closed in 1995. The Army does maintain have a small, on-sight staff to oversee the cleaning up of the area.

Currently 50,000 acres of the firing line have been turned into the Big Oaks National Wildlife Refuge, and a 1,000 acres north of the firing line is being used by the Indiana Air National Guard.

There is what was once an old air field to the south, but the buildings there that would support it are mostly gone, and the runways either degrading, or are gone.

Camp Atterbury, Indiana

The claim: Facility is converted to hold prisoners and boasts two active compounds presently configured for minumum security detainees. Located just west of Interstate 65 near Edinburgh, south of Indianapolis.

What it really is: It's a national guard training base, and despite the claims, there is actually very little there, and nothing that looks like two active compounds to hold prisoners in.

Ft. Benjamin Harrison, Indiana

The claim: Located in the northeast part of Indianapolis, this base has been decomissioned from "active" use but portions are still ideally converted to hold detainees. Helicopter landing areas still exist for prisoners to be brought in by air, land & rail.

What it really is: The base was closed in 1995. The site of the itself base has been redeveloped into residential neighborhoods, a golf course, and is the site of Fort Harrison State Park.

Despite the fact that the base was officially closed, the Defense Finance and Accounting Service - Indianapolis, as well as several Army Reserve and Indiana National Guard units are located there, and the National Guard opened a new training facility there in 2011.

Kingwood, West Virginia

The claim: Newly built detention camp at Camp Dawson Army Reservation. More data needed on Camp Dawson.

What it really is: Camp Dawson is a West Virginia Army National Guard training camp that opened in 1909.

There are a few large and newer buildings there, but none of them look like something you would find at a prison camp.

Indiantown Gap Military Reservation, Pennsylvania

The claim: located north of Harrisburg. Used for WWII POW camp and renovated by Jimmy Carter. Was used to hold Cubans during Mariel boat lift.

What it really is: The base is a National Guard training center, and is controlled by the Pennsylvania National Guard.

It is true that the site was used as a POW camp, and was used to hold Cuban refugees after the Mariel boatlift. What is not true however is that there is a prison camp there. I've taken a look at the site using Google maps, and there is nothing there that looks like a prison camp.
